Summer Sun-day

People think I’m crazy.  But I love the fog.  Which is lucky since that’s what we get most of the time around here.

The sun is glorious too– when it decides to come out.   Like it did today–when it seemed as if everyone on the Monterey Peninsula was at Carmel beach. (PS –those are surfers out there, not seals.)

I think our part of California has the most gorgeous coastline in the world.   But I grew up on Miami Beach–where the ocean temperature is about the same as a warm bath.   And though I completely embrace the Pacific, I enter it only up to my knees.  Swimming in it?  Only if you’re a marine mammal.

I always thought I was a wuss.  But today I noticed that the only brave souls in the ocean above knee-level–— were knee high—

….or they were wearing wet suits…..

…..or fur coats.

I have absolutely no connection to the local Chamber of Commerce.

Still I have to say whether in or out of the water,   every single person I saw today at Carmel Beach was wearing the same thing—-a smile.

    Beautiful beach!
Yeah, water temps here still pretty cold. Lots of wet suits abound. Kids don’t seem to feel it even when their lips are blue.

    I love fog too.

Foggy cold days at the beach–my favorite. Probably a childhood in Miami Beach was enough sun for a lifetime.
Although kids seem immune to the heat AND the cold. Somehow I tolerated school with no air-conditioning in Miami—and also swimming twice a day for years at summer camp in an ice cold lake.
