Home Alone

You might remember,  V is a morning person— I’m a hopeless night owl.  I’ve tried to keep more normal hours; but  I’ve pretty much given up.

We manage.  And today I managed to get up around the same time V does.

Holy crap.  It was DARK.

Why anyone would  do this voluntarily in a home without a screaming infant,  I don’t get.   I only did it because I had promised to drive V to the San Jose airport.

Actually that’s not true.  He drove to the airport.  I laid there in the seat next to him like a corpse.

To get home,  I had to open my eyes.   Which is how I saw something I haven’t seen in many many years.  Sunrise.

Can I just say — there are two kinds of wives:  those who love when their husbands are out of town—and those who love it, but won’t admit it.

Which kind am I?  I’ll give you 3 guesses.  (not a bad deal since I just realized there are only two choices.)

So shoot me; I LOVE having the house to myself.

Some women relish the freedom of not having to cook.  That’s not my issue.  I don’t cook even when V is here.  But when he’s gone I do eat more simply—limiting my meals to wine and chocolate.

P.S.  I considered having a real adventure— but I  thought I’d wait till V comes home to try the Spotted Dick.

There is nothing more precious than time spent alone, especially when you know that it is a temporary condition and the person you love will be back at some point! Enjoy your wine and chocolate.

I am more of a sunSET kind of girl myself. But it is nice to see it rise once in a while, huh?
    Enjoy your time alone!

I can’t believe that my wife prefers my absence from home, even though she did seem to enjoy her recently completed solo trip to Sweden. She claims she missed me during her sojourn there, but she seems to have had more fun might be good for her. Fortunately, she did come home again.

Taking a break from soaking in the solitude and chocolate and wine to thank you for the comments.

Debi—you are so sweet and I’m so flattered! Such a compliment from a writer means a lot to me. Seriously.

Marla and Maureen–It’s sort of contradictory to discover how much I love and crave time alone, when I consider myself so social. Life is full of surprises.

Mark–Bet your wife is full of surprises too—like all women are. In the end, most of us do enjoy coming home to our men–can’t live with them, can’t live without them.
