just a little catty

Mostly she’s perfect.

Not only does everyone adore her,  Peppy is the ultimate low maintenance pet:

Willing to eat wet or dry cat food (although she prefers whatever I’m having….)

Snuggles close no matter what time I go to sleep… and still there whenever  I wake up  (usually with her butt in my face)

Resourceful…..(so far she hasn’t tried wine)

Forgiving—(even after that time I slammed her tail in the front door)

Adaptable….(she actually USES it— if only she’d learn to flush…)

….truly Peppy is the perfect pet.

There’s only one thing  that’s not working for me: sharing an office.

I don’t mind that she sits on the printer….even while it’s printing.

I don’t even mind that she sits in front of the computer screen.  Or that leaping up there,  she hits the button that shuts down my computer at least 50% of the time.

But I’ve had it with her favorite game— using her paw to flick stuff off my desk—-business cards, glasses, chocolate bars important papers…. She can’t talk but I get the message loud and clear: she’s nagging me to clear off my desk.

I just love Peppy and today’s blog!

I discovered this wonderful product called, I think, PSSST! It’s motion sensitive, and when my Little Guy jumps on my desk in front of the monitor (his favorite spot), it sends out a blast of air. Only problem is, it scares him so much when he leaps off, my papers all go flying. But after a couple of PSSST’s, he realized that my lap was much cozier than the monitor!

Well now you’re talking. I can’t believe she uses the toilet. I think I like cats now having just policed the back yard for the poo-a-lot-poodle.

Wonderful. Beautiful kitty/child. Ours are named Tali and Sadie. Sadie snuggles with M. at night just as Peppy does you. Tali is the computer buff. Got to love when he jumps on the keyboard, noses me on the nose, then turns 180 degrees…well, you get the picture.

Sadie nursed M. through her months of recuperation after the surgery. She seemed to know how much she was needed. Great comfort to M.

We are considering redecorating our living room and cat attractiveness (more aptly, un-attractiveness) is shaping our choice of fabric and carpet.

I know, we all have kitty stories but I appreciate this moment to share about mine.

How did you get her to use the potty?

Thank you–and she is even more lovable in person!

I will look for PSSST. I doubt a blast of air will scare Peppy.
BTW she also prefers my lap but that just presents a whole new set of problems—every so often when I reach for the keyboard too suddenly, she scratches my hands enough to draw blood. Any ideas on that one? Please don’t suggest keeping her out of my lap–as a fellow cat owner, you know that would be impossible.

Cats are lower maintenance. But also lower intelligence. See the comment above. LOL.

Your two cats sound like a great combination–although Peppy combines all those qualities into one–and can be comforting too—when SHE feels like it.
I wish I’d thought more about fabric before finding out that our couch would become her scratching post. And you wonder why they say we are all slaves to our cats.

I wish I could take credit, but she somehow figured it out herself. If you have a cat, you know there is no way to “get” a cat to do anything. LOL

Oh! I did that to the cat’s tail once – the vet called it a “degloving incident”. Poor thing.

BTW I loved your HuffPo piece, about women in the Times.

Hate to sound “catty” but feel kind of relieved to know I’m not the only “deglover”—had no idea there’s a word for such abuse. PEppy recovered so much faster than I did.

Thanks also for your comment re: the Huff Post piece. Really appreciate it.
