Starry-eyed

For someone who worked in television, it’s surprising how little I watch.    V watches a lot more, mostly on ESPN.

I can’t remember the last time I agreed to sit through a golf match.   Like he is about everything else, V is far more willing to come over to my side.

I doubt  his golf buddies read my blog— and they’d never believe this.   V is totally hooked,  like I am.  On Dancing with the Stars.

89506_gilles-marini-poses-on-the-red-carpet-at-bravos-first-a-list-awards-show-on-june-4-2008-at-hammerstein-ballroom-in-new-york Though we watch the show religiously, never once have either of us called in to vote.

After tonight I think I should have.

Not only for who I wanted to win the trophy.

Now that the season’s over,  V gets my vote for being a good sport.  For watching every episode, while watching his wife,  like every woman in America, go  ga-ga over Gilles.

I totally agree and also didn’t vote. So disappointed!

I must admit my wife and I are also hooked on DWTS and absolutely adored Gilles. But I also must admit that although very disappointed that Shawn Johnson took the title we were not surprised. Just as America chose Kris over Adam on Idol, it is readily apparent that the majority of voters went for the American apple-pie image. Rather than vote for a French Adonis they chose an All-American pixie. And rather than choose a nail polish and eyeline-wearing metro-sexual, then chose the good ol’ boy from Arkansas. Not to worry, both Gilles and Adam’s future opportunities are limitless. As a matter of fact, I think I heard that Gilles is going to be appearing on one of my favorite shows, Brothers and Sisters. Tell V he has good company!

I can live with being in the minority when America votes on TV—as long as America voted for Obama when it really counted!!
