I really feel I’m home from a trip as soon as I see the ocean. The storm prevented me from getting there on my first day back–so I went today.
Today’s walk brought into perspective the last two days— still without connection to the internet, television and phones. While I’ve been whining about being powerless, here was a tangible reminder of where the power really is.
Carmel beach always changes after a big storm—sometimes wider or narrower; new rock outcrops are exposed that were invisible before; temporary lakes spring up….
and like people, sometimes things that appear more fragile turn out to be stronger.
In the face of nature’s force, all we can do is stand in awe….and clean up.

Wow, amazing shots.
Mother Nature always puts us right back in our place, doesn’t she?

Definitely, Mother Nature is brilliant at providing perspective. We’re just those little grains of sand on the beach.

D, I have been to Carmel Beach. That part of the coast is awesome for sure. Growing up in Miami Beach, somehow we take it all for granted, and people spend thousands to come and see it!
I live on the west coast of Florida, Sanibel, Captiva, Marco, Boca Grande. I call them “bubbles” because the troubles of the world don’t seem to be there. Thanks for the video sharing and posting of your travels and journey. Loved it.I am going back to Miami for a “radio reunion” for the hey day of all the great radio brands and professional community, when media was truly “local” stations. WSHE, Love94, Zeta, K102, I95, WAXY..remember?
Should be fun!

Thank you both!
Maybe growing up on Miami Beach we did take the ocean and its beauty for granted, but I don’t anymore–I truly appreciate living in a “bubble” which Carmel probably is, too. Sometimes you need to pop that bubble and seek out more excitement—which it sounds like you’ll find at that radio reunion in Miami—have fun!
PS Meanwhile ocean or not, 2 days was a long time living in an internet-free zone—so glad that’s over.
