I heard the news on Twitter last night; and by now I’m sure you’ve heard it, too: chocolate is tied to depression. People who are depressed tend to eat more chocolate . Duh.
Did they really need a scientific study to investigate this when they could have just come over to my house?
Personally I’m sure this will end up as one of those unanswerable mysteries of science like curing the common cold: Do you eat chocolate because you’re depressed—-or do you feel depressed because you ate chocolate?
The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health and University of California at San Diego….not by the chocolate industry. Though I seriously doubt this news will damage chocolate sales—I can already imagine the next big development: chocolate-flavored Prozac and Zoloft.
Not for me. After two weeks in Argentina I figured out the antidote for my chocolate addiction: Dulce de Leche. I just hope they don’t do any scientific studies on that.
In your honor I bought a huge bottle of Dulce de Leche at Fox & Obel this am – I am serving it to company Saturday night – I will probably become an addict too.
I’m flattered to be such a trend-setter. Ha ha.
I would be terrified to even SEE a huge bottle—hope it’s great, but don’t blame me later…
They’re crazy. I’m depressed if I don’t eat chocolate!
I think this says it all:

Me too. Not sure if it’s the chicken and the egg but after all these years it’s way too late to figure it out.
Thank you for the reference–after reading all these studies on chocolate, what I need to find out —is how to become a test subject.
