…..I avoid the mall so I don’t have to buy see this:
or this:
But then I go to the framer’s:
And the dry cleaner…….
Come on, what would you pick up here—a lint roll (er) or a Tootsie roll?
And worst of all…..
…..the dermatologist. And they used to tell us chocolate gave us pimples….
Honest, I’ve been trying most of the time to give it up.
So what I want to know…..is this a conspiracy ?
Why do people insist on giving out free chocolate?
And is it considered bad manners when I take more than one?

I’m always suspicious of places that give away chocolate. It’s as if they’re trying to distract me from how badly they do their job.
By the way, I consider it bad manners only if you take the jar or basket. Eat up!
It’s an old framing tradition to leave something sweet on the counter, we grill our customers with so many questions that they need a little pick-me-up before they leave. Funny thing is that men customers are not shy about eating more than one, or seven. One of my favorite customers runs in, grabs a candy and then dashes out again with just a quick hello. I tried leaving Jolly Ranchers out, or big Wintergreen lifesavers…but they were ignored and just went stale…chocolate always wins out!
I am Saint Lolly. I got the chocolate monkey off my back 20+ years ago.
Taking the whole jar? I like your thinking!!
Mints? Jolly Ranchers? Are you kidding?
Actually I’ve always considered free chocolate a perfectly good reason to patronize any place that offers them. And I’m not embarrassed to grab a handful; Guess I must have some extra testosterone.
So how did you do it?
And if you did, are you sure we’re related??
We are definitely related. Self hypnosis. It’s relaxing and it worked for me.
That is so funny!
Yikes; I wouldn’t want chocolate out of my life totally; would much rather tough it out.
Besides, I’m un-hypnotizable.
What I really wonder about when I see chocolate in all these places—-is how does anyone manage to work there?
Hey girl… I heard on t.V. that the lollipops are a good, not too caloric nor fatty, snack..Of course I am hooked on them.!!!yum..
When I first moved to LA I heard the same thing—that they’re not totally unhealthy–But after buying (and eating) a truckload, it turned out to be an urban myth. Got hooked on them anyway, like u. Yum.
