semi-sweet

Tonight I was going to sleep before 2 a.m.. for a change.  Choose You. Less sugar.  Less stress.  More sleep.  Everything in moderation.

I was shutting out the kitchen lights a few minutes ago when I felt….sort of empty.  As if something was missing.

And it was.   I had made it through the entire day without sugar.

At 1 a.m.  most people would pat themselves on the back and go straight to bed.

Instead, I decided it was time for a little “moderation”.

The Mother’s Day cookie is long gone;  the house is pretty much chocolate-free.  (Daniel, if you’re reading this,  I swear I threw out the chocolate  stashed in my desk drawer.)

I went straight to the only remaining morsels of chocolate in the whole house.  Which really are….morsels.

I have a few bags in the pantry in case I’m inspired to bake chocolate chip cookies even though I haven’t made any for at least 5 years.

The bag was beckoning;   I shook a few chips into a little dish and took it  into my office.

In the 5 minutes it took to check Facebook;   the chips were gone.

Now I needed some water– so I went back into the kitchen.

When I got back to my desk, there they were— just a few tiny chips that I had overlooked— waiting in the dish.

Daniel’s face flashed before my eyes….and I did hesitate for a split–second…..just before I popped those last couple chips into my mouth.

I popped them right back out.

They tasted funny—I thought it was some kind of sign from Godiva God…

But no, it turns out there’s another member of the Food Police living in the house.

While I was out of the room, Peppy peed in the dish.

How does it feel to know that all over the world, you just made people laugh out loud??? And if I wasn’t already holding my sides, I read Eleonora’s question wondering why this Peppy would do such a thing.

Ha ha–it might be funnier thinking Peppy was a friend desperately trying to keep me away from chocolate– but she’s our cat.

Ya think? I don’t see why she won’t behave like a normal cat—and use the toilet.

I thought that was hilarious too, trying to imagine other–funnier–scenarios. When this stuff happens, it’s one of those moments I love having a blog.

LOL — hilarious! No doubt, Peppy is keeping you honest! BTW, I have definitely been known to tap into the chocolate chips myself. Unfortunately, my cat isn’t as smart as yours!

oh god, I was peeing when I got to the end of this. I could tell something was up, but I thought Peppy had pooped. So–lucky you that it was only pee.

But I see this as the goddess of Chocolate punishing you via Peppy for even thinking you should stop worshiping at her shrine.

Peppy and smart? Not normally two words I’d use together–though I love her to pieces.
Funny that I used to get annoyed when she would EAT my food.
This is a whole new level of annoying.

Only you could get me to see this in a whole new light.
I suddenly feel grateful it was pee, not poop.

Far more important, I LOVE your interpretation of the whole incident. Definitely don’t want to anger the Goddess of Chocolate. Next time it really could be poop.
