What is never enough?

It’s the  most precious of our resources.

It’s ephemeral and everlasting;  measurable and mercurial;   immediate and infinite.

We all get our share; we all want more.

More people say they value it more than money.

It’s time.

And lately I’m hyper–aware that it flies.

This week I get a double whammy–

A birthday is a not-so-subtle reminder…

And an empty nest—briefly filled between Daniel’s 6 months abroad and imminent return to college.

I’m not counting the hours…. but I’m treasuring them.

I am there with you, my friend. One leaves today, one came back on Sunday but leaves next week. and there was only a 1 night crossover with their crazy schedules.

And I have a birthday coming too. I suppose I will celebrate peace and quiet and time to concentrate. And you?

I get my girl back soon for a couple days–but they had no overlap this round—and I bet we were both at the airport at the same time. The more I know u, the more we’re the same. So our birthdays are close too? I’ll be celebrating just being here to celebrate.

    Happy birthday!

I used to feel so unreasonably happy whenever I happened to have all four of my chicks in my house at once. It’s been four or five years, I suppose… And I don’t have a house any more. And one of my chicks has a chick. All change, which is just right for the chicks, I admit, though I don’t much like it. We must get along as we can, trying to pose as wise old birds.

How about the scant minutes I spent with you in New York? THAT is never enough.

You might think you’re posing as a wise old bird but really you’ve got lots of wisdom–thanks for sharing it.

That was definitely not enough –but the time we had was MEMORABLE—and maybe in the end, that’s most important.
