As Cluttercast enters its 6th month, it’s the perfect time to come clean:
1. Cluttercast was my New Year’s resolution. I’ve never kept any other resolution more than a week, so no one thought Cluttercast would last—–including me.
2. People assume I’m running out of stuff to cluttercast. Not even close.
3. People assume the house must look better. But the clutter was camouflaged–in closets and cabinets. Now it’s out in the open. So actually, the house looks worse.
4. Technically Cluttercast is my idea. But I was inspired by my son, who started doing it long before I did. Daniel was bigger and taller than his friends and outgrew his clothing practically before he got to wear it. Years ago he started a tradition that he called the “free clothes pile.”
The collection of his castoff clothing sits on a window seat outside his room, and anyone who comes over gets to take whatever they want. Daniel has great taste and likes to shop– so his choices are very appreciated.
And in all this time, only one person has taken more than their share from the free clothes pile:
