My Husband Drove his Car Over My Foot….and here are 10 GOOD things about it

cedars id1.  It makes great blog fodder.

2.   It was an accident.  I thought I should probably mention that.  In today’s world, you never know.

3. There were witnesses. We were with another couple (who both escaped injury.)

4. It’s not life threatening; I don’t need surgery but potentially could score a handicap parking pass.

5. Need I mention my husband is now waiting on me hand and foot. Possibly for life.

6.  Wearing a canvas boot for weeks is a great excuse to buy new shoes.

7. In the ER I got to try out my brand new Medicare card.  Wait, is that really a good thing?

8. No need to come up with reasons not to exercise.  Or reasons I deserve to eat chocolate.

9. It proves what I’ve always told my children: When challenges happen, remember someday this will make a great story.

10.  After 20 years of marriage to a non-Jew, he finally has learned the true meaning of Jewish guilt.

Yes OUCH! I think this list exhausts the good things about this, although at the top of the list is that it could have been SO much worse. Thank u!

Thank you! Yes V feels worse than I do; and I’m sure I’ll get over it faster. Thanks for thinking of him, and me. Milking as much as I can! haha

I’m sure heel be toeing the line from now on. At least insurance footed the bill. But he’s a great guy so don’t sock it to him. In the words of my podiatrist and psychic healer, Dr. Fallon Archie, “I never metatarsal I didn’t like!” I hope you got a kick out of this and I hope you recover quickly from this injury… as for this message, I hope you’ll forgive me shortly thereafter.

Darryle…leave it to you. What a “feet” to be able to see the humor in the hurt.
I think u should start planning an exotic guilt trip for when you are healed. Xox

Darryle, very funny, I hope you heal well and fast! But I want details: How did this happen? Surgery? Broken bones? Duck foot? Will you ever walk the same again? Certainly not near heavy moving equipment.

I love # 10. Hahahaha. You, my dear, deserve to be waited on – yes – hand and FOOT. (Ouch.)

I loved this post. But next time I hope it’s about something less painful!

Bad news: incredibly scary experience. I was standing with the other couple next to the car, V thought he was in park but the car rolled forward over my foot pulling me to the ground and pinning my foot under the tire. Good news: no broken bones, no surgery, maneagable pain, hopefully just physical therapy and I’ll be walking normally again although FAR from any cars. Thank you!

We don’t often celebrate our feet! Not till something happens to them…a blister being the most benign and a car going going over them a bit more serious. So celebrate your feet from this day forth – the good one and the other one! You now deserve pedicures for life! YAY! Also, one of those little foot bath things, lots of Epsom salt for when you are out of the boot, etc. Treat them to new shoes and warm socks in cold weather *if you travel East this winter.
    Hugs, Karin

    Hi Darryle,

Wow I’m impressed with this list! This post really exemplifies your bio “handling life with humor.” Hope you are feeling better now. I am excited that I came across this blog!

I am a graduate student working on a project funded by Stanford studying how women with breast cancer use social networking sites for informational support. We are hoping to send a brief survey via Twitter. Would you mind if we tag you on this Twitter mention?

It’s totally fine if you don’t like the idea! Thank you again for your consideration.
