Sharing smiles……stories…..and sandwiches.
If you were a fly on the wall, that’s what you would have seen as the four of us sat around a table the night before Daniel’s flight to Buenos Aires for his semester abroad. The four of us—Daniel, his mother, his father, and his sister—his nuclear family.
If you were a fly on the wall at other times over the past 15 years, you might not have imagined that scene ever taking place.
It’s not what you sign up for when you marry and have children. But when you get divorced, sometimes it’s as close as it gets to “happily ever after.”
For some families, the hurt and heartache are beyond repair. We’re lucky. And when that happens in families like ours, it’s testament to 3 things that make it possible: resilience…… forgiveness ….. and love.
My oldest son is from my first marriage. (I have been happily remarried for 33 years and have 3 other children.) I agree with what you say…”it’s testament to 3 things that make it possible: resilience…… forgiveness ….. and love.”
BUT…It is SO well worth it!!
One more thing we have in common, sweet girl!!
I didn’t know you had been married before. And yes–if this is possible after a divorce, it’s worth it— especially for kids, it’s worth everything!
