How could you miss the irony? There’s my piece on the Huffington Post, about women over 50 being invisible—right at the moment when 60-year old Arianna Huffington becomes just about the most visible woman in the world.
I couldn’t help seeing the merger as a symbol that affects all women, all ages—whether or not it affects me personally. (Just to hedge my bets, I did write this post about it for another site.) Because Arianna is such a visible example of what’s possible.
Of course, she’s not typical; she’s an outlier. Everyone doesn’t have her intellect, her connections, or a million dollars for a startup. Still Arianna is a role model for reinventing herself—that thing women are constantly being told we should do. So there’s a message there, and not just from the universe. No matter who you are, or what drives you—women can be heard–and seen—at any age.
If Arianna isn’t example enough, plenty of not-so-famous women live by the same message. Even if fashion isn’t your passion—check out Advanced Style, a wonderful blog created by Ari Seth Cohen.
Ari says he roams the streets of New York looking for the most stylish and creative older folks….to let these ladies and gents teach you a thing or two about living life to the fullest. Advanced Style offers proof … that personal style advances with age.
Pure fun, pure inspiration, proof that anyone can rock the rules—-and like Arianna, very visible women.
I told Ari I my goal is to get old enough—and stylish enough—to be included. Click here to visit Advanced Style.
